These tracks were recorded around the same time as their self-titled debut, and while that was excellent, I reckon this to be twice as good. Funky, chunky, melodic and lyrically superlative, Mark E. Smith would be very pleased and proud to be honoured so regally, not that he'd ever admit it. Gavin Hellyer
