about

"..one of the most ferocious sounding bands of the 80s "
The Screaming Blue Messiahs were high octane three-piece combining driving post-punk with rock'n'roll, R'n'B and hints of rockabilly. Invariably tight and stunning live shows.

This recording was from The Leadmill Sheffield, 3rd March 1985

The tracks "Keep Me from Evil", "Destroyer" and "Accident Prone" were unreleased on the studio albums. Thanks to Grant Louden for information including song titles which I did't know.

Kenny Harris - drums
Chris Thompson - bass
Bill Carter - vocals and Telecaster

Their studio albums remastered together with extra tracks and B-sides is due for release as a box-set late 2016. Also check the BBC live sessions CD which contains a superb set live at the Paris Theatre, London from the same tour as this recording (30th March 1985) but much better quality..

For a taster, check their Old Grey Whistle Test appearance - www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Yc-X2lG_HM
playing Let's Go Down to The Woods and (my personal favourite) Good & Gone

Kenny and Chris are gigging and recording as The messiahs, new album scheduled later in 2016. check their facebook page for information -
